Maree Abood GAICD
Head of Strategy and Planning
Maree has 22+ years of impactful senior and executive leadership in public service with expertise in water, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, critical infrastructure and resilience strategy, planning and policy. Maree was awarded the Australian Water Association’s 2023 NSW Legend of Water.
She is a strong advocate for evidence informed decision-making and applying multi and interdisciplinary approaches to complex systems for best systemic social, economic and environmental outcomes. She is inspired by the opportunities to create positive impact through innovation, collaboration and creating value as an authentic leader.

Delivered an climate and non-climate risk and resilience assessment for a a local community, combining spatial analysis, hazard intelligence, community vulnerability and futures scenarios to reveal where risks are concentrated, how they may interact and evolve.
Driving cross government coordination on adaptation action
Supported a government organisation to drive policy agenda on adaptation action with their stakeholders.
Interactive adaptation online adaptation tool and data visualiser
Delivered an interactive tool that guides users to collate visualise planning and hazard information, compare risk and maturity, track actions and monitor adaptation progress. Supported on the ground implementation with collaborative cross-organsiation workshops. Delivered consistent process and training for an anchor organisation to coordinate adaptation information and action using the tool.
